AlgaeHealth is a proud subsidiary of BGG
Algae Health Sciences was founded in early 2016 with the mission of researching, producing and marketing health-giving ingredients produced from algae. We’ve hired top quality scientific and production staff with the foremost goal of producing industry-leading quality ingredients that are clinically validated to support improved health. Our flagship product, AstaZine® Natural Astaxanthin is produced on the world’s second largest Natural Astaxanthin farm in a fully-closed system to prevent impurities and foreign organisms.
“Algae Health Sciences” (a BGG Subsidiary) Created to Focus on Nutritional Ingredients from Algae
BGG is a worldwide leader in Astaxanthin production and technology, with the world’s second largest capacity to produce Natural Astaxanthin from microalgae and products unsurpassed in purity, potency and overall quality. We have the world’s first Certified Organic Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae powder, and we have plans in place to become the world’s largest Natural Astaxanthin producer in the year 2020.
The leadership of BGG believes that nutraceutical ingredients from algae will rapidly develop into a large and thriving segment of the supplement industry. With this belief in mind, BGG has decided to spin off its Astaxanthin farm into a subsidiary in which BGG will remain the major shareholder that will have its sole focus on the production and marketing of efficacious ingredients from natural algae sources. The company will be named “Algae Health Sciences, Inc.” but will go to market simply as “AlgaeHealth.” The company will have facilities in USA, Switzerland, Japan and China. While it will be a separate corporate entity, AlgaeHealth will continue to utilize BGG’s quality facilities and scientists as well as its worldwide Sales Team.
“Our goal is to provide the absolute highest quality algae-based ingredients at favorable pricing,” said industry veteran Joe Huff, CEO of AlgaeHealth’s US-based operation. “We plan to introduce new products on a consistent basis in the coming years, but for now we’re extremely excited about the prospects for our flagship product Astaxanthin. And we’re thrilled to have the worldwide reputation for quality ingredients that BGG has gained over the last twenty years backing us.”
In addition to Mr. Huff who has served in a variety of roles in the supplement industry including Sales, Purchasing and Quality, AlgaeHealth has also employed Bob Capelli as its Executive Vice President of Global Marketing. Mr. Capelli has spent the last 16 years researching, publicizing and marketing Astaxanthin. He has been published extensively including the world’s first book on
Astaxanthin, peer-reviewed papers, magazine articles as well as appearing on countless radio and TV shows around the world as an expert on Astaxanthin. “I’m honored to be part of this new company and to work closely with a person with a deep knowledge of our industry like Joe Huff. We’re going to make a great team to get the word out about Astaxanthin’s incredible health benefits and increase consumer awareness. Our primary objective is to bring the whole Astaxanthin industry to new levels of success and make ‘Astaxanthin’ a household word in the coming years.”
AlgaeHealth Announces the World’s First Organic Astaxanthin Crop
Algae Health Sciences, Inc. (AlgaeHealth), a subsidiary of BGG, announced today that its Haematococcus pluvialis crop has obtained organic certification by Ecocert, an organic certifying agency based in France. Haematococcus pluvialis is well known for its high content of the strong antioxidant Astaxanthin and is the starting material AlgaeHealth uses for the production of its AstaZine® product line. This landmark achievement comes after a long-term product development project and heavy investment to become the world’s first organically produced Astaxanthin crop. “AlgaeHealth and our parent company BGG pride ourselves on product quality and innovation” said Joe Huff, CEO of AlgaeHealth’s North American operation. “This pinnacle achievement for our flagship product AstaZine® Natural Astaxanthin will be very exciting for cutting edge companies that target the organic market.”
Christian Artaria, global CMO of BGG and CEO of BGG’s European operation based in Switzerland echoed Mr. Huff’s sentiment. “The organic market is growing quickly in Europe and North America. The organic certification of our Haematococcus pluvialis crop differentiates our Astaxanthin from anyone in the market place and answers an unmet need of our customers and end-users.”
Organic labeling laws vary from country to country, but in many regulatory environments brands featuring AstaZine® Natural Astaxanthin 5% Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae powder will be able to claim “Astaxanthin from Organic Haematococcus pluvialis” on their labels. “While brands will have to check on their local regulations, we’re confident that in most markets, our customers can now launch our Astaxanthin powder informing their end-user that the product they are getting is made starting from organic material,” said Mr. Huff. “We’re currently looking at emerging delivery methods which will allow brands to use a Certified Organic logo such as the USDA’s on their packaging as well.”
